Can I use a Betterment Checking account to fund my other Betterment account(s)?

Yes, you can use your Betterment Checking account to fund your other Betterment accounts. This includes making deposits, withdrawals, and transfers to:

  • Individual taxable accounts
  • Joint taxable accounts
  • Individual and joint Cash Reserve accounts
  • Trust accounts
  • IRAs (e.g., Traditional, Roth, or SEP IRAs)

Note: 401(k) accounts cannot be funded via Betterment Checking, as they are funded through payroll contributions.

Troubleshooting Transfers Between Checking and Other Accounts:

If you’re trying to transfer funds between your Betterment Checking account and another Betterment account but don’t see Checking as a transfer option, you may need to add Checking as a funding source for the other account.

To add Checking as a funding source:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select Funding Accounts.
  3. Add Betterment Checking as a funding account.
